Academy for Intercultural Education & Social Affairs gGmbH
The Academy for Intercultural Education & Social Affairs gGmbH is a certified educational institution based in Thuringia. Clearly rooted in the social sector, it has made it its mission to promote and help – in the spirit of sustainability and a strong awareness of society and the environment. With its education and training programs, the company aims to focus on an international mindset and promote values such as tolerance, openness and the idea of international understanding.
The four partners unite these principles in a very unusual way – not only in terms of their own nature, but also in terms of their very personal biographies. They come from Germany and the Arab world – and have all found a home in Thuringia. The accumulated expertise and diverse experiences enable a strong initiative and provide the conditions to initiate change and contribute to a continuous improvement of the services. The institution and its partners thus help their environment not only with individual issues, but also with social concerns as a whole.
But is it possible to work effectively and purposefully in a team with so many multicultural influences? Our answer to this is a definite “yes”, because we can gain many advantages from the interaction of cultures. In this way, different ways of thinking and ways of working can be linked and recombined in a way that brings success. We are also highly motivated to make a difference and have the courage to think innovatively. We have the knowledge and experience to incorporate and implement this in our offers.
The team sees a broad field of activity in the influx of other cultures to Germany and the associated tasks of integration and the reduction of disadvantages. In particular, it can draw on its wealth of experience to identify and build on participants’ individual strengths and remove obstacles in a solution-based manner.
Since 2020, we have been running a Thuringia-wide project for the professional integration of women with migration and refugee experience. Through this project, we have gained a wide range of skills and dealt intensively with all the challenges of this life situation. During our work, we have networked with all job centers and employment agencies in the state of Thuringia and found contact persons.
During the course of the project, we approached more than 400 women and activated them for the labor market. Of these, 120 women are currently in employment.
We have established a good network with all stakeholders within the support landscape who are also involved in integration. We are also in contact with educational institutions (universities, universities of applied sciences, chambers of commerce, etc.) and companies. We invest a lot of time and energy in the constantly growing network of our target group.
